Hydrotech Metal to Collaborate on Research and Innovation with BRIN

Jakarta – PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreement (MoU) on "Mineral Processing Technology Research and Innovation" with Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The signing of the MoU was done by the President Director of PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia, Widodo Sucipto, along with BRIN's Research and Innovation Utilization Deputy Task Executor, Dr. Mego Pinandito, M.Eng, in a series of the peak events of Research and Innovation Week held by BRIN in Jakarta on Friday, December 17th 2021. When met after the event, Mego Pinandito hoped that the collaboration on mineral processing technology research and innovation between BRIN and Hydrotech Metal can be developed further. He said that at the moment, Hydrotech Metal's low grade nickel ore processing technology, Step Temperature Acid Leaching (STAL), is a good start to continue the research and innovation of other mineral processing technology in Indonesia. "The potential is there to have a research cooperation in any field, and not only in the research alone, but also until producing the end result that can be use (by public). For now, it is just nickel, but there are a lot of kinds of metals in Indonesia. Not to mention rare earth metals and others," Mego Pinandito said. He also asked for the scope agreed in the MoU to be implemented immediately. In addition to joint research and innovation in the field of mineral processing technology, the field that was agreed by Hydrotech Metal and BRIN in the MoU also covered the utilization of shared facilities and infrastructure in the field of mineral processing technology, development and utilization of technology in the electric vehicle battery industry in Indonesia, and other fields agreed by both sides. "After this MoU, Let's do it soon. If the technology (STAL) is already available, then do the production immediately. In the MoU there is also research collaboration, then the collaboration can be done soon, by using BRIN's lab, or anything. The join research prepared by BRIN is for all," Mego Pinandito said. Hydrotech Metals’ STAL Technology Presented at the 2021 Indonesia Electric Motor Show

Jakarta - PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia’s STAL Technology presented at the 2021 Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS), held by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on 24-26 November 2021. The exhibition event for electric-based vehicle innovation was held in a hybrid format from Kawasan Puspitek, Serpong, using "Innovation for Better Future e-Mobility" as its theme. STAL Technology (Step Temperature Acid Leaching) is a hydrometallurgical nickel processing technology owned by Hydrotech Metal, which is capable of processing low-grade nickel deposited in Indonesia, in an environmentally friendly manner and at a low cost. This national technology innovation has gone through a technological audit process from the Materials Technology Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (PTM BRIN) (formerly the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology/BPPT) in May 2021. Currently, Hydrotech Metal is collaborating with PTM BRIN to produce advanced technological innovations from STAL that can process nickel ore directly into battery precursors even into battery cathode (the raw material for lithium battery), as well as discussing other opportunities for collaboration with BRIN in the form of laterite ore processing research, especially residue processing (waste management). National Technology Innovation Expected to Play an Important Role in Increasing the Added Value of Low-grade Nickel in the Future

Jakarta – Director General of ILMATE (Metal, Machinery, Transportation and Electronics Industries) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII of the DPR RI, Wednesday (10/11), said that technology plays an important role in (processing) minerals side. Furthermore, Taufik explained two approaches of nickel processing technology, which is the pyrometallurgical approach that is widely used today, such as Nickel Pig Iron (NPI), Ferronickel, and Nickel Matte, as well as the hydrometallurgical approach, which he mentioned, will have an important role in the future to increase the added value of a low-grade nickel. "From the hydrometallurgical point of view, it is also very important, so that later low-grade nickel can be processed, so the chemical approach, which may have been conveyed earlier, HPAL, High Pressure Acid Leaching, and also perhaps what is now being developed by our fellow Indonesian as well, Step Temperature Acid Leaching, it will also have an important role in the future to increase added value for low-grades (nickel) because all minerals have varied nickel content," Taufik said. Through the presence of STAL Technology, fellow IUP (Mining Business License) owners do not have to bother looking for funds up to billions of US Dollars just to build a smelter,” Widodo said. According to Widodo, STAL Technology produces competitive carbon emissions compared to existing hydrometallurgical-based nickel extraction technologies. And with a modular scale, Widodo said, STAL has the potential to reduce fossil fuel consumption through the use of renewable energy sources, such as hydropower and solar power, so that carbon emissions can be significantly reduced. In a technology audit conducted by the Materials Technology Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (PTM BRIN, previously Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology [BPPT]) recently, STAL Technology was proven to be able to produce nickel recovery from 89 to 91%, and cobalt by 90 to 94%. Meanwhile, the STAL Pilot Plant has also been proven to be able to produce MHP (Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate) with a Ni (Nickel) content of more than 35%. (*)

The awarding ceremony was held in a hybrid way (online and offline) on Wednesday (27/10), at the 30thAnnual Professional Meeting (TPT) and the 11th PERHAPI Congress which carried the theme "The Role of Mineral and Coal Mining to Support Strategic Industries and National defense". PERHAPI is an organization consisting of mining experts in Indonesia, and has a function to facilitate its members and the mining community in general so that they can contribute ideas to the development of the mining sector in Indonesia. Hydrotech Metal are Getting Closer to Canada Securities Exchange

Jakarta – PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia are getting closer to Canada Securities Exchange, after the signing of Share Exchange Agreement with a Canadian company recently. The signing was done virtually by Hydrotech Metal, together with PT Trinitan Green Energy Metals (TGEM) and PT Trinitan Resources Tama Indonesia (TRI) as their shareholders. Based on the agreement, TGEM and TRI will transfer their shareholdings in Hydrotech Metal to the Canadian company, which then will issue common stock at an agreed price, to be paid prorated to TGEM and TRI based on the number of shares to be exchanged. According to Widodo Sucipto, the President Director of PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia, this process is one of the important steps that Hydrotech Metal must take after the signing of Letter of Intent with the Canadian company on August 23, 2021. Collaborate with PTM BRIN, Hydrotech Metal Conduct Research to Process Nickel into Battery Precursor

Jakarta – PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia resumed collaboration with the Materials Technology Center National Research and Innovation Agency (PTM BRIN) (formerly called as Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology/BPPT), after the completion of technology audit of Step Temperature Acid Leach (STAL) process at Hydrotech Metal's nickel laterite processing pilot plant. In that technology audit, STAL Technology has been proven to produce nickel recovery, from 89% to 91%, and cobalt recovery, from 90% to 94%. Meanwhile, the STAL pilot plant has also been proven to be able to produce Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) with Nickel content of more than 35%. Hydrotech Metal Collaborates with Japanese Company for Engineering Design of STAL Commercial Plant

Jakarta – PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia has established a partnership with another Japanese company. This time, the owner of the STAL (Step Temperature Acid Leach) technology is collaborating with MESCO, Inc., for the engineering design process. Cooperation between Hydrotech Metal and MESCO, Inc. will go through Yokohama Mining Industries Corporation (YMI) as an intermediary. YMI itself has signed an Appointment Agreement with Hydrotech Metal as a procurement partner for critical parts of STAL Technology. The procurement process for the critical parts currently will be carried out by YMI in Japan, and then exported to Indonesia. In the future, YMI also plans to develop local procurement in Indonesia. President Director of Hydrotech Metal, Widodo Sucipto said that his party received many requests for STAL Technology from companies in various countries, including Japan and Europe. Therefore, he continued, Hydrotech Metal will immediately carry out this engineering plant design with MESCO, so that critical parts for nickel processing with STAL Technology can be produced immediately. Widodo also explained that Hydrotech Metal will complete the engineering plant design in 2021, through the engineering design work of critical parts with MESCO. After that, Widodo continued, Hydrotech Metal will immediately start the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) nickel smelter with a production capacity of 7,200 tpa in the Special Economic Zone of Palu, Central Sulawesi in 2022, and targets to start mass production in 2023. “Hydrotech Metal is targeting to start mass production of 7,200 tpa starting in 2023, by combining STAL Technology and Japanese technology, to obtain high quality and value-added production in the world. HMI Collaborates with Japanese Company, STAL Prepares to Enter Commercial Scale

Jakarta – PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia (HMI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Japanese company, Yokohama Mining Industries Corporation (YMI), virtually on Tuesday (9/7/2021). In the MoU signed by the President Director of HMI, Widodo Sucipto and the President of YMI Corporation, Atsuhiko Sakamoto, it was stated that HMI exclusively appointed YMI to carry out the procurement of critical equipment of STAL (Step Temperature Acid Leach) Technology. Widodo said that the collaboration with YMI was a follow-up to the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Feasibility Study Report for STAL, which was implemented by a leading international EPC company from Japan some time ago. In the report, Widodo continued, STAL Technology is recommended to proceed to the next stage of preparation for commercial scale. “The MoU with YMI is the next step for STAL Technology, towards commercial scale. As a form of our seriousness, in order to maintain the quality of production as well as increase the attractiveness in the eyes of consumers, we chose to cooperate with Japanese company which is known to have the best production technology in the world,” said Widodo. Therefore, said Widodo, HMI gave YMI exclusive rights to procure critical equipment of STAL technology in Japan, to be exported to Indonesia. Widodo also explained that HMI is currently in the process of engineering plant design with other Japanese companies. Furthermore, Widodo continued, the specifications of the critical equipment formulated in the factory design will be submitted to YMI, so that the procurement process can start immediately. “Starting with support for 4 STAL lines with a capacity of 7,200 tpa planned by HMI in 2023, YMI plans to expand to more than 100 STAL critical equipment exported to Indonesia by 2027.” Widodo said. STAL Acknowledged Internationally, HMI to be listed in Canada Stock Exchange

Jakarta – President Director of PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia (HMI), Widodo Sucipto, in recent press conference said that the national technology innovation which they own, Step Temperature Acid Leach (STAL), is internationally acknowledged. According to Widodo, it is implied from HMI’s listing process in the Canada Stock Exchange. “HMI is currently undergoing the process of listing in Canada, where one of the important steps of the process is the signing of LOI (Letter of Intent) with a Canadian company. We have gone through a long process and finally, the LOI has been signed last Monday (23/8). From this process, we can see that the processing technology innovation that we have (STAL) is seen as prospective in the eye of business,” Widodo said. Based on the LOI, HMI will get the share ownership of the Canadian company, and will change the company’s name to Hydrotech Energy Metals (HEM). If everything goes well, Widodo said, HEM will be officially listed on the Canada Stock Exchange by the end of September 2021. "As a technology company, we will use the listing proceeds for the development of STAL technology and its derivatives, as well as the development of other processing technology innovations," Widodo explained. Furthermore, Widodo Sucipto also said that currently, HMI has received a lot of cooperation requests for the use of the STAL Technology from miners and nickel smelters. Widodo thought, that can also be seen as one of the indications that STAL is indeed considered as prospective by the public.
